Location: London, UK

University of the Arts London (UAL) generates and inspires the creativity the world needs for a better future. Since 1842 their Colleges have been defining creative education, with the Unviersity ranked second in the world for Art and Design. The UAL Creative Computing Institute (CCI) offers innovative new courses, research opportunities and a public platform to explore computer science and creative practice.

Challenge

University of the Arts London sought an assistive listening solution to enhance accessibility in its teaching spaces. When evaluating options, they turned to Ampetronic | Listen Technologies for their expertise and diverse portfolio, exploring multiple technologies, including Auracast™, Audio over Wi-Fi, Infrared, and Induction Loop. Their priorities were exceptional audio quality, seamless integration, and a future-proof system that would not require dedicated receivers.

Solution

Following extensive testing, Auri™ emerged as the ideal choice, offering superior sound quality, simple installation, and long-term flexibility. The university installed three AURI™-TX2N-D transmitters, two AURI™-D4 docking stations, and four AURI™-RX1 receivers across two 96-person classrooms and one 48-person classroom.

Result

Powered by Auracast™ (Bluetooth® LE Audio), Auri™ delivers high-fidelity, low-latency stereo sound directly to personal headphones and assistive listening devices. This solution not only met immediate accessibility needs but also positioned the university for future advancements as more Auracast™-compatible devices become available.
Initial feedback highlighted Auri™ as a game-changer for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, with additional benefits for neurodiverse learners.

“At Ampetronic | Listen Technologies, our mission has always been to drive innovation in assistive listening and ensure equal access to audio for all. We’re proud that Auri™ has been selected by the University of the Arts London, demonstrating the real-world impact of Auracast™ technology in education. This installation highlights the potential of Auri™ to deliver high-quality, accessible audio with ease, setting a new standard for inclusive learning environments.” Chris Dale, UK General Manager, Ampetronic | Listen Technologies
