Just How Effective are Hearing Loops? Answer = Very

Jul 22, 2016

It’s always great to see 3rd party independent verification of the effectiveness of Hearing Loops, and this study goes beyond most to do just that!

A fantastic (and technically comprehensive) article on a recent study confirming the effectiveness of properly specified and installed Hearing Loop in a lecture theatre, not only for hearing aid users, but also for people who don’t experience any hearing loss at all.

For those of us in the know, the results for the hearing aid users may not be all that surprising, but the value Hearing Loops present to people with ‘normal’ hearing may well be:

  • 99% of all users in the test (hearing aid users and those with normal hearing) preferred listening to the sound from the Hearing Loop.
  • 96% of hearing aid users would be likely, or very likely, to use a Hearing Loop if it was installed in a venue
  • 78% of people with ‘normal’ hearing would be somewhat likely, likely, or very likely, to use such a system is if was available to them.
  • Almost 50% of those tested would be willing to pay between $50 to $500 to get a telecoil enabled aid or receiver – take note hearing aid manufacturers!
